| Medbourne v Uppingham 28.8.11
Medbourne hosted local rivals Uppingham in the Rutland Premier League on Sunday aiming to record only their second victory of the season. Put into bat on a wicket showing some variable bounce they lost George Clark (4) early on but when Steve Punchard (66 from 47 balls) was joined by Steve Lilley (27) they set about the Uppingham attack and when they took the score past 100 in the 17 over a big score looked on. But Punchard was caught at long on and Lilley followed shortly after reducing them to 118 for 4. There was still batting to come but only Andy Holyoak (18) and Troy Smith (4) added runs with a dramatic collapse which owed much to the introduction of Colan Bartrum who recorded remarkable figures of 4-4-0-5. With 8 batsman bowled, only one caught and a needless run out for the final wicket this was the most disappointing performance of the season with the last 6 wickets falling for only 5 runs. When Uppingham batted, they had the worst possible start with Brad Downing clean bowling Dunford with the first ball of the innings. But Will Cropper (60) and Martin Bennett (27) then put Uppingham in a strong position. Their partnership was broken by Fin Clarke, then Punchard took a wicket with his first ball and although he took a further 3 wickets with a slip catch from Holyoak, a caught behind by Nance and a stunning caught and bowled, the score was too low to defend and Uppingham reached their target of 138 for the loss of 6 wickets in the 28th over with a fine knock by Mark Cox (31 not out). Relegation from the Premiership now beckons for Medbourne but with a largely young squad this will allow them to develop for the future. |

| Bourne v Medbourne 7.8.11
Medbourne again fielded a mixed side of experienced and young players when they visited Bourne. Batting first they lost a wicket to their first ball and struggled to put together partnerships. Against a strong Bourne Bowling line up, Troy Smith made a useful 18 and Sam Freer an enterprising 31 but their biggest partnership was 35 for the ninth wicket with Alex Haynes (20) and Patrick Christiansen (14 not out) ensuring that they had at least secured a batting bonus point when they were all out for 111. For Bourne Hopkins (11-2-19-5), Trim (10-2-35-3) and Bentley (12-4-28-2) were the wicket takers. When Bourne Batted they initially struggled against tight bowling with 4 of the first 5 overs maidens including a wicket maiden for Brad Downing (5-3-11-1). When the slower bowlers took over they were unlucky that skied edges fell wide of fielders but Troy Smith (6-2-14-1) was rewarded with a single wicket. The total was however too small to defend and Bourne reached their target in the 26th over to secure victory just before a heavy rain shower which might have ended the match. The big scores came from Stroud (55) and Dunn (35 not out). |

| Medbourne v March 17.7.11
With games rained off on Saturday Medbourne were looking forward to playing on Sunday and hoping for a win against visiting March who had beaten them on their home ground in their last Rutland Premiership fixture. March batted first and Medbourne hopes were high as they had dismissed both openers with the score on 31 and they were the danger men from the last game. But Hilliard (79) supported by Wilcox (25), Mills (15), Young (13 not out), Tombs (11) and Harradine (10) pushed their score on to 199 before Medbourne took the last wicket with the final ball of the innings. George Clarke (12-3-36-3) was the pick of the bowlers with young Fin Clarke picking up 3 for 52 and there was a wicket each for Brad Downing and Troy Smith. There were 3 catches for Nigel Clarke, 2 for Downing and one each for Fergus Clarke and Joel Nance. This was a very gettable score but no Medbourne batsman was able to build an innings and they were dismissed for 82 in the 24th over. Only George Clarke (14), Andrew Jarvis (10) and Nance (10 not out) got into double figures with the Australian, Wilcox taking 8 for 27 from 11.5 overs and Young 2 for 27. A disappointing batting display and Medbourne will have to improve on if they are going to remain in the Premiership. |

| March v Medbourne 3.7.11
Medbourne took a young and relatively inexperienced side to March on Sunday and suffered a heavy defeat. They lost the toss and with 2 players arriving late fielded the first 2 overs with 9 men. March quickly set about the Medbourne attack putting on 87 within 13 overs until Troy Smith took the vital wicket of Wilcox (43). Hodson (117 not out) however continued the attack scoring his maiden century and with support from Brahmbahtt (33) and Howego (30) they reached 251 for 9 from their 45 overs. This had threatened to be much higher but some tight bowling notably by the excellent Smith (12-2-21-1) with support from George Clarke and Fergus Clarke each with 2 wickets and good fielding including run outs by George Clark and Smith ensured that the target was achievable. When Medbourne batted they were, however soon in trouble losing wickets regularly and by the 15th over they were 63 for 5. Only George Clarke (31) looked in control until he was bowled by the erratic but at times devastating Mills (3 for 36). Support came from Dan Clark (11) and Smith (10) with Patrick Christensen (15) and Brad Downing (16 Not Out) ensuring that at least one batting point was secured as Medbourne were all out for 121 in the 39th over. There were 2 wickets each for Wilcox, Jackman and Brahmbahtt. |

| Medbourne v Stamford 19.6.11
Medbourne recorded their first win this season in the Rutland Premiership with a convincing win in a low scoring game at home to Stamford. Batting first, openers Andrew Jarvis (34) and Steve Punchard (32) put on 46 for the first wicket and Steve Lilley (16) helped push the score along to 81 before the tail collapsed dramatically with Medbourne all out for 110. Dave was the main wicket-taker for Stamford with 5 for 20 with Birch and Williams getting 2 each. Medbourne took to the field facing another defeat but it was not to be. A stunning catch by Fergus Clarke off Jack Rose (5-0-15-2) left Stamford on 0 for 1 before Brad Downing’s excellent bowling was rewarded with an LBW, followed shortly after by a second excellent catch this time by Steve Lilley. Further wickets fell regularly with Downing (11-7-17-5) destroying the middle order. He was well supported by Alex Frith who had an excellent spell (5.5-1-15-3) to finish off the innings. Stamford were all out for 48, victory for Medbourne by 62 runs. Only Prentice (18 not out) and Peck (10 reached double figures. Jarvis added to his excellent score on the day with 2 catches behind the stumps. |
